The ICAR-CRIJAF, Barrackpore has been mandated to undertake research and development on 6 natural fibre crops viz., jute, mesta, flax, sisal, ramie and sunhemp. The institute has developed many high yielding varieties of these crops with agro-technology of crop production and crop protection and also fibre extraction technology.
